Reduced General and Campus Life Fees for Fall

As you prepare for the start of the Fall 2020 semester, we recognize the immense change and financial challenges that have developed as a result of this global pandemic.  

欧洲杯 投注As a result, the university is reducing the General Fee and Campus Life Fee. Reduced rates for full-time students for the Fall 2020 semester are

  • General Fee:  $358.00 (10% reduction)
  • Campus Life Fee: $218.45 (15% reduction)

General and Campus Life fees support non-academic activities, some campus spaces and various recreational and entertainment facilities and programming.

Other tuition and fees related to instruction, technology and most program fees will continue as these support ongoing teaching and academic advising, allowing students to earn and receive full academic credit toward graduation and degrees.

We hope these adjustments will assist you in continuing your future educational endeavors at UC. Fall Semester

欧洲杯 投注The Non-Resident Surcharge assessed to out-of-state students will continue to be charged to students who are not Ohio residents. Tuition and fee rates are based on your program of study, not the teaching modality of the courses you in which you are enrolled.

欧洲杯 投注The Instructional Fee, Non-Resident Surcharge, ITIE fee, and most Program Fees will be assessed at the normal rates for fall. Those fees support instructional costs and other services that are being provided during online instruction, such as academic advising, student services, and access to , Canvas and other online tools. It's also important to understand that your instructional fee (tuition) is tied to your earned academic credits, and you will be receiving full academic credit for the academic hours successfully earned and taken this fall.

欧洲杯 投注The General Fee for students in Distance Learning programs is being reduced 10 percent to $358.00 for the fall term.

The Campus Life fee covers primarily fixed costs associated with various recreational/entertainment facilities and programming that can be utilized by all students, even those who are taking classes online.  Our campuses are open and most of these facilities and programming will remain available to students. However, in recognition of the current circumstances, a 15% discount to the fee for the Fall 2020 Semester has been provided.

All international students (not just those who hold F-1 or J-1 status) are required to pay the International Student Fee. The fee is $125 per semester ($250 per year). The fee covers costs associated with SEVIS compliance, onboarding for campus employment, cultural programming, orientation and more. The university is working hard to delivery dynamic and engaging student experiences, while also following health and safety guidelines.  With more than 40 student organizational groups and 20 student-facing offices, UC students can find a supportive community to engage in-person and virtual experiences to develop and thrive.

Tuition is due 5 days prior to the start of the term. The Fall 2020 term begins on Aug 24, 2020. Additional information on rates, fees and payment plans can be accessed by visiting the Office of the Bursar website.

Yes. Financial aid is available to most degree-seeking students. If you wish to apply for financial aid and you haven’t filed your 2020-2021 FAFSA, please do so at . Eligibility for aid sources can be considered even during the term as long as you are enrolled at least half-time. If you have filed your 2020-2021FAFSA, please review your financial aid award offer and any items noted in your To Do list in Catalyst.  You can also visit the for more information or contact campus One Stop to speak with a staff member to review your financial aid eligibility.

Spring Semster

Since one third of the term occurred after the transition to remote learning, the amount refunded for the Campus Life Fee, General Fee, and Housing costs equal 33 percent of the original charges.

欧洲杯 投注Meal plan refunds depend on the type of meal plan purchased.

  • Residential Unlimited Meal Plans were refunded at 33 percent of the original cost, excluding the $150 applied to the student’s Bearcat Card.
  • Campus Dining Plans were refunded at the per-meal cost for unused meals, excluding any credits applied to the student’s Bearcat Card.

The Instructional Fee, ITIE fee, Distance Learning Fee, and most Program Fees will still be assessed at the normal rates for fall (but not the General Fee nor the Campus Life Fee).

The above fees being assessed at the normal rates for fall support instructional costs and other services that are being provided during online instruction, such as academic advising, One Stop Student Services, and access to Blackboard, Canvas and other online tools. It's also important to understand that your instructional fee (tuition) is tied to your earned academic credits, and you will be receiving full academic credit for the academic hours successfully earned and taken.


欧洲杯 投注If you have applied for graduation, your remaining Bearcat dollars will be credited to your student account and refunded to you if you do not have any outstanding balances due.  If you have a balance due, your Bearcat dollars will be applied to those charges due.

Students not graduating who wish to have their Bearcat dollars refunded may request a refund by completing the Bearcat Card Refund Request Form.

Please note that refunds cannot be issued for card funds wherein the university originally provided said funds, e.g., institutional aid, scholarship, etc.


CARES Act Funding

欧洲杯 投注The University of Cincinnati signed and returned the Certification and Agreement to the Department of Education and has used funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

Student Employment

Students should work off campus remotely, they may perform online training, conduct project work, or other assigned tasks post the Governor's March 23 “Stay at Home” mandate. Students MUST perform work to be paid and report time worked.  Projects may be assigned as remote work. A staff member must be readily available to supervise the student if on campus. Graduate Assistants are to continue working if possible using flexibility and health and safety guidance as a priority.

欧洲杯 投注 If a student employee is quarantined for 14 days due to exposure, they shall receive pay for the hours they would have worked. Please use COVID-19 in the comment section.

The university is strongly encouraging units to develop remote work for student employees including those on Federal Work Study whenever possible. This creates an opportunity for those student employees to continue receiving their hourly pay. There is not an expectation that the work is completed on campus. Units can use discretion on the tasks and projects given to student employees in order to maintain a work schedule. The university does not have the opportunity to continue payment of student employees if work is not being performed.

Commencement & Transcripts

Commencement ceremonies will be held in the format that is safest for the health and safety for all participants and consistent with CDC, state, and university guidelines for social distancing and crowd density. Current plans are for the August 2020 and December 2020 Commencement ceremonies to be held online. Spring 2020 graduates will be recognized in the August 2020 Commencement ceremony planned for Friday, August 7, for doctoral and master’s student graduates and Saturday, August 8, for undergraduates. December graduate dates are set for Friday, December 11, for doctoral and master’s students and Saturday, December 12, for undergraduates.

No. If you have satisfied all of your degree requirements, you should receive an email notification ahead of any Commencement date that your UC degree has been certified.  

Yes. UC provides graduates Certified Electronic Diplomas and Certificates. Graduates who would like to order a ceremonial (paper) diploma can order one for $3.85 to cover printing/mailing costs.


Housing

Fall 2020 Planning

欧洲杯 投注University Housing and our mix of accommodations will be open during Fall Semester.

All housing, dining and recreational facilities have undergone a deep cleaning. Additionally, our continuing cleaning procedures have been expanded and will remain in effect throughout the semester.

  • Entering first-year students will be able to self-assign rooms and roommates starting mid-July.
  • For students who will reside in Living-Learning Communities, self assignments begin July 15.
  • The open self-assignment process begins July 21 and closes July 31.
  • The reservation system to select move-in dates will open on July 29.
  • The move-in process will open on Friday, August 14, and extend through the start of the school year on August 24, 2020.
  • The earliest move-in dates (August 14-15) will consist of a “drop-off only” process. New students and families may drop off / set up belongings in their rooms, but will then return home.
  • New students will begin to move-in and immediately reside in the residence halls starting on Monday, August 16, or anytime thereafter.

If your plans have changed and you no longer need University Housing, please log into the to submit a Housing cancellation request.

Students residing outside a 50-mile radius of the Uptown Campus may request exemption from the University Housing requirement欧洲杯 投注 by completing the Freshman Exemption Form found in the under the “Forms” tab. Waiver requests are subject to approval by UC as it is important to ensure safety for our incoming first-year students.

UC Housing staff, University Health Services staff and Environmental Health & Safety staff will set and adapt room capacity based on health and safety protocols that optimize social distancing and a robust cleaning program. Any adapted room capacities will be set by the time first-year student self-assignment begins in mid-July.

Bedrooms/sleeping quarters in suites and traditional halls will be modified for the upcoming academic year. The greatest impact will be in traditional halls (Dabney, Siddall and Calhoun) where quad rooms (4-person unit) will be adjusted to only accommodate three (3) residents; Daniels quad rooms (4-person units) will be adjusted to accommodate two (2) residents; and triple rooms (3-person unit) will now only accommodate two (2) residents. 

If a student desires a single room, we will work to accommodate the request, first with our existing inventory of single rooms. If nothing is available, we are open to converting a multiple-occupancy room into a single, at an increased rate, and subject to availability.

If students residing in UC Housing become symptomatic or test positive for COVID-19, the university has retained vacant, single-occupancy rooms with private bathrooms to allow for quarantine and isolation. UC Housing, Student Affairs and UHS are prepared to collaborate on providing isolation/quarantine, meal delivery, medical care and other support services; however, depending on the size and scope of a surge, UC housing may not be available for all quarantined or isolated students.

As such, dining procedures have been adjusted to promote socially distant dine-in activities as well as expanded take-out options.

Dining centers for Fall:

  • Stadium View (dine-in and takeout)
  • CenterCourt (dine-in and takeout)
  • On the Green (OTG), (dine-in and takeout)
  • Mick & Mack’s (takeout only)

At all dining center stations, associates will provide full service, with a complete meal including dessert, and takeout available. Students can still expect the wide variety of menu items that we typically would provide, however the service style of all items will be modified so that all items are served by staff. Menus will vary daily at every dining center, with pre-made, served-to-order, and prepared-to-order hot item choices.

  • Pre-made items may include fresh salads or deli sandwiches.
  • Served-to-order items will include items such as comfort foods, pizza, True Balance allergen-free* foods, stir-fry, vegan and vegetarian foods.
  • Prepared-to-order items will include grill sandwiches, and entrée salads, to name a few.
  • Student favorites, such as freshly-made waffles and soft-serve ice cream will also be available as staff-served items. And popular theme days, such as Chicken Tender Tuesdays at MarketPointe, and others will be offered.
  • Mick & Mack’s in TUC will provide a meal plan alternative, with grab-and-go options, as well as a full-hot meal buffet, served by associates and available as carry-out.

All students should work together to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the Bearcat community by following all federal, state, local and campus guidelines.

  • Facial Coverings must be worn in common areas. When you leave your residence hall space, it is required that you always wear a facial covering regardless of how long you plan to be outside your room.
  • Students are encouraged to maintain good hygiene, including washing their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after visiting a public place, using the restroom, blowing their nose, coughing, sneezing or touching their face. If soap and water are not available, hand sanitizer that contains at least 70% alcohol should be used.  
  • Practice Physical Distancing  
    • Lounge spaces - smaller lounges and common areas will be closed to group gatherings; in large open lounges, furniture will be arranged to allow proper distancing
    • Elevators - 2 person maximum 
    • Resident rooms - maintain distancing among roommates and guests

Guests

As a health and safety measure, the standard Guest Policy欧洲杯 投注 for UC Housing ​is currently be​ing adapted ​​in order to reduce contagion and exposure among residents. Upon move-in and through the first weeks of the Fall term, only residents of each room will be permitted in assigned rooms; no in-room or overnight guests will be allowed. A gradual return to UC Housing's standard Guest Policy will be determined by health and safety needs and requirements.
